how long can my car stay in a country with carnet

hello
we got a car registered in oman, i got belgium nationality, we are planning on driving from oman to our next travell destination, we are dive instructors, so maybe jordan, egypt, turkey or kenia, somewhere out of europe
my question is how long can our car stay in a country, can we for example leave it somewhere for a while , flying to belgium and coming back to pick it up and drive to an other country
we will have a carnet

or do i need to register in a country if i want to stay there for a long time and get a new carnet from that country if we ever decided to leave it

would it be easy to register in a country outside of europe, any example is welcome doesn t really matter where, as long if it s warm there

thanks a lot peter

I think this depends on the rules of the country you're staying in, not the carnet. Different countries have different rules so you'll maybe have to decide where you want to stay and then look into it. For example I've driven in Egypt and got 1 month, and I've driven in Kenya and got 3 months. Both are maybe extendable, I didn't need to so didn't try.

I can't imagine registering your car in any of the countries you mention being easy without having residency there.

Carnet

My bike has spent up to 6 months at Jungle Junction in Kenya, We have renewed our carnet a couple of times. Kenya has a road tax, but if you show them your passport where you left the country and were not using your vehicle in this time they don't charge you. I have done this 4 times now and you have to argue a little but they cop it.

Is there a web page anywhere that lists that general entry times granted for each country? Or does it generally match the entry visa time. It would be super helpful to know BEFORE arriving :)

All times are GMT +1. The time now is 16:50.
