current info on green card insurance from Italian firm
we can provide with the green card as follow
Green Card Insurance
FOR NON EUROPEAN VEHICLES only!
The UCI, an Italian insurance company connected with the ACI, the Italian Automobile Club, can issue a Green Card policy valid for the EU countries and other European countries.
The Green Card (typical Third Party insurance) covering up to € 750.000 of full liability against persons, animals and things
The green card that we can provide, is valid just for the countries that are part of the European Comunity, AUSTRIA, BELGIUM, BULGARY, CIPRO, CZECH REPUBLIC, GERMANY, ESPANA, ESTONIA, FRANCE, FINLAND, UNITED KINGDOM, GREECE, HUNGARY, CROATIA, ITALY, IRELAND, ISLAND, LUXEMBURG, LITUANIA, LETTONIA, MALTA, NORWEY, NETHERLANDS, PORTUGAL, POLAND, ROMANY, SWEDEN, SLOVACCA REPUBLIC, SLOVENIA.
About the size of motorcycle I know that there are no limit in Italy, but I don’t know in the other countries.
Please let me know if you need other information.
Thanks a lot

A: rental@mototouring.com
Do you handle insurance for motorcycles? Green Cards? Can they cover Russia?
We are from the United States; will be arriving in Korea the summere (can get insurance for Korea), then ferry to Vladivostok and then west to Moscow, then touring Europe. Likely total time 3 months.
Is there any limit on the size of the motorcycle. One is a large touring bike, 1800 cc engine.
Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

I'm Australian in the UK on a US bike... seems that although third-party insurance is compulsory in the UK (obviously), you can't buy it.
Four hours of phone calls and internet search yesterdat morning turned up a big fat ZERO result. Seems nobody in the UK will do a Green Card unless it's as an extension of your current policy. To get a policy with a UK company requires the bike to be UK registered. Might be possible to register the bike here but would require some creative thinking and would not be strictly legal. I thought getting insurance in Sth America was difficult! More so here.
Finally went to Mototouring in Italy, 223 euro for 3 months, I paid 200 Euro for 1 month when I first arrived in Spain, so can't complain. Be aware though that they still have to deal with an insurance company, and processing can take 2-3 days.

Up to date information (as of summer 2014) about insurance prices and availability in the countries of former Yugoslavia can be found at this discussion:
Balkans Insurance - Here's the story, with details & sample documents.
The prices shown at that discussion are for a motorcycle.

Fifteen pages is too much to read through and maybe its been brought up already, but that €22 monthly rate increased to €105 in 2010.
And that company is the one that provided Green Card insurance sold by the ADAC in Germany.
The increase could have been due to that dickhead 18 year old on a cell phone (cell phone blabbers really need to get a life) who ran into my stopped motorcycle in 2009 putting me into the hospital for quite a while and writing off my BMW GS Adventure. It cost his insurance company a bundle!

Sorry, I posted up on another thread. . That post is pretty bad. Double
I'm using Tourinsure. I still can't get insurance in Ireland, but I can get green card insurance for the rest of the eu. So, I'm off to the UK, especially Scotland.
You can also use Knopf Tours in Germany. There is another tour company in Italy that posted on a similar thread.
Looks like Ireland is going to have to be a rental bike. Another trip.

Sure wish I'd read this before I landed in Ireland, purchased a bike, and ended up in the same mess, ha! My own fault for not researching, but still...oi.
I'm actually taking the same option- Tourinsure for green card and headed outward to Scotland, UK, Europe.
Think I have found a small loophole though- Northern Ireland is UK! If I can just get my bike up there, I can tour at least part of Ireland...

Well G, we have managed to sort the things out for you in one day so you can freely go and ride even through Ireland .
And we're not Tourinsure just for the sake of getting the info out to the community

Ladies and Gents,
Does anyone know if it is possible to get EU green card insurance on arrival by ferry at Salerno, Italy?
Is it a dumb idea to go without it?
cheers

Hi Nic,
Not sure, but I do think it's possible.
If you want we can sort out the green card/third party liability insurance for you in advance.
You can check our website for more info, and if you have more questions just let me know.
Enjoy your trip planning
