Help please! can't find answer: re Aussie bike in USA for 18mths
![]() Geoffrey here: Done a search, learnt a lot but need help on this one... Thanks... I am wanting to take my NSW Australia 1150GS to the USA and ride it for 18 months whilst on a work internship. I know I can have the bike in the USA for 12 months as a private vehicle. But the rules say I can't have it any longer than that. Can I take my bike over the Canadian or Mexican border at the end of the 12 months and then re-enter the USA and have it for the next 6 months before shipping it home? What is involved? If I have my bike o/s for 18 months how can I have it registered? I've no idea how long term travellers keep their bikes registered when they are in another country at the time. Any help appreciated! I am thinking of selling my bike and buying 1 over there and then shipping it back, but that is going to get complicated. Really, want to take my BlackPig. Appreciate guidance, experience and humor Geoffrey
