Green Card is a history. It's no more issued.
You get cover valid for all EEC countries as a standard.
So, don't worry about it, just find good insurer.

I just heard that it's no more issued but haven't checked it. Sorry.
I don't know anyone here who got one or need when travels abroad.
My insurance covers all EEC and I was not given any GC when state that want to travel to other countries.
On my European trip last year I crossed more than 20 borders and had never been asked for it. So what point to get one?
Find good insurer and make sure it covers every country you want to visit. That's it.
It's just my experience, maybe your situation is different.
I am European and have europe registered bike.

In Europe there are minimum levels of Insurance required by the Laws of whichever country you are in. The levels required by Law vary from country to country.
Insurance issued in one EU member state (country, to you and me) generally includes the MINIMUM cover required to use the roads in other member states.
For 'foreign' road users from outside the EU, or for EU road users going outside of the EU a Green Card is still generally (but not everywhere) the accepted proof of Insurance in the countries confirmed thereon.

So - if I read your question properly, coming from outside the EU you will need some acceptable proof of the legal minimum insurance. Either a Certificate of Insurance issued by an authorised insurer within the EU or a Green Card confirming cover by another insurer.

Ask your 'home' insurer for extending cover to EU.
And remember not all of Europe is EU - eg Switzerland, Norway and others are not in the EU.

Assuming a CND-registered vehicle, you need to get it before you leave, from
Green Card
or
How does Non European Green Card Insurance work?
NO--only min mandatory liability is available for non-Euro registered vehicles

All this info is in sticky on this forum

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
