Gold Wing buy in Vancouver ship from Mexico Mexico

Request for information from anyone who can advise on the advantages / disadvantages of buying a GoldWing (new or used) in Vancouver BC mid-August 06 and touring North Americas for 5 months before selling up or shipping bike out of Mexico to UK. (this is my first post and the trip is going to happen)

Contacts

We will be starting a Trans Canada and US trip on July 19, here is some contacts to start with. After much investigation we gave up on the whole buy sell thing in Vancouver and shipped our bikes from Australia.
Check this site for bikes for sale in Vancouver http://vancouver.craigslist.org/mcy/
This site is for the local wing club www.gwrra-bcd.org
BC has a few taxes that add to the purchase price one of which can be claimed back if the goods leave the country within 60 days. If have heaps more info, let me know and I can PM the lot to you if required.

Thanks Glen if you could PM the extra info that would be much appreciated. Our planned route out of the Rockies takes us from Jasper to Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnepeg Lake, Winnepeg, Minneapolis, north shore of Lake Superior, Thunder Bay, Sault.Ste. Ontario & south side of St. Lawrence seaway, across Adironbachs, to Rensela, Albany then to Catskills and south to join the Blue Ridge Parkway and turn off to Charelston S. Carolina, onto Savanna and then across to St. Augustine Florida, Miami, Pensacola, New Orleans and then the long hike to Mexico via the interior route to Salilla, Guanajarto to Mexico DF.

if you make it to Mexico City we can put you up and show you around. It won't be easy or legal to sell the bike here in Mexico. Shipping out of Mexico is probably more complicated than from the States. Send me a PM if you want me to check out shippimg for you.

A good place to find bikes in Canada is Kijiji, try every city, Kijiji Vancouver, kijiji Victoria, etc. Ebay has a lot of bikes but mostly U.S.

Rowley: if your taking the Chi Cheemaun across the North Channel (paradise) make sure you visit Midland and Penetanguishe. I lived there 10 years and wonder why I moved. Absolutely great place and people.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
