Green Card Insurance in Turkey

I will be traveling from Turkey through Greece and the Balkans early next year and I have some questions about the Green Card Insurance and maybe someone can help.

Most of the Green Card posts on these forums are for people from Europe or traveling the other way so I couldn't find the answers to my questions. I am not from Europe and traveling the opposite direction.

1. Can I obtain a green card in Turkey?
2. If I can, where do I get it? Istanbul or the Turkish / Greece border? Anywhere else?
3. What is the cost to be covered for 2 months?

Thanks

See this post for information about getting Turkish insurance:

For Greece & the Balkans:
Greece is covered by Arisa (see same post) while some of the Balkan countries are not. You can get Arisa insurance from anywhere in the world irrespective of where your vehicle is registered. It is done by e-mail & bank transfer. It's a bargain at 22 euros a month.
Hope that helps,
Stephan

Hi,

we got insurance at the border - 10 euros for a month whilst riding in from Bulgaria on a bike. It does seem to vary from place to place, and no idea how useful that insurance would be if anything happened, but it was enough to cover us through the country for them so that was fine by us.

Just meant filling in a form and waiting for about ten or fifteen minutes, which given how long it can take to get through the border as a whole actually felt pretty slick!

If you are travelling Turkey, UE (most of the Balkans have joined UE), Ukraine, Georgia and Russia, get a Green Card as soon as you can. You are fom SA, ok, GC Is like the Yellow Card in Africa. It´s gonna be easier and cheaper crossing borders. Do not try to get GC at the border, they want to ripp you off. Try in the first European city you arrive.

If you produce your Green Card everything will work better at borders. Green card works also in Iran, Israel and Morocco. And, how about an accident? A good insurance is the best investment you can do. How much does cost your bike? and your gear? How much about your last hotel and dinner? How much are you going to pay for an insurance? Buy a good one and keep confident. An accidente is a real risk when travelling on a bike. Do not think about insurances just like another f....g paperwork. Maybe you will need it.
