Foreigners buying a indian registered bike? Possible? Carnet?
 

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible for a foreigner on a travel visa to buy a motorbike in india, get a carnet for it and rides off with it out of india, into pakistan, iran, turkey and eventually into the rest of europe?

Has anyone tried that before? Could it be possible?

so far as i know, it's not possible to get a carnet for an indian registered bike.
so you can only go to Nepal with it. Not possible to enter Pakistan.
But there is a possibility to get a carnet with a nepalese registered bike.

It is possible, my brother did it about 10 years ago on an old indian bike & rode it to the UK and somehow got back (with a few Afghani rugs tied on the back!)

He went thro' Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran & Turkey ...
