Foreigner buying bike in USA - paperwork?

Hi all,

I had a search and found a couple of threads with vague info and a link to the Washington licensing website. This was helpful but mostly for locals.

So my Dad is buying a Harley in the Seattle/Tacoma area in Washington. I am wondering what will be required to change over the title/rego into his name. Ie, what paperwork needs to be done before he rides.

He has a license (doesn't require internat. license), and we will get him insurance through progressive, where I have mine (been riding a DR650 in Nth and Sth America past 2 years).

Cheers in advance for your help!
Rossy.

Washington state is easy, you do not even need a local address but it will make it easier. The only disadvantage is we have a sales tax but if he has already made a deal he will need to pay that. I did check this out at local DMV, (Department of Motor Vehicles) a year ago for someone else so there should be no problem. If you want a local address, (70 miles south of Seattle) let me know and he can use mine.
