"foreign" mc endorsement on US license (?)
 

I've never had motorcycle driver's license at home. Now I'm in N. Africa and I want one to tour the Med. As a legal resident I can get a Moroccan motorcycle operators license, but my International Driver's Permit would be issued by AAA Oregon. I have posed the question to AAA but no response yet. (I'm also looking to buy a bike but I don't really want it registered in Morocco; EU/UK reg. would be preferable for resale purposes.) Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks All. Safe Travels! -b.

You may have problems getting an IDP with a motorcycle endorsement if you don't have that on your state DL. I just got an IDP through the local office of AAA (Oregon - Idaho chapter) and they were very picky about it, checking carefully that my Idaho DL had the motorcycle endorsement.

Could you get an IDP in Europe?

Just had a friend get her IDL w/ motorcyle endorsement through the mail from AAA in Colorado. There is no motorcycle endorsement on the copy of her Colorado license she submitted. She just checked the box for the endorsement on her application and they gave it to her.

If you know what the endorsement looks like, it wouldn't be difficult to alter the photocopy you send in so that it looks like you have the endorsement. I doubt they check with the DMV. Not that I'd ever recommend doing that sort of thing.

The IDP is merely a translation of your national licence. So, if you only have a Maroc bike licence you need to get an IDP in Maroc. Perfectly valid, since you are a resident.

It's a good idea to also have an IDP for your US car licence, just in case you want to drive a car somewhere.
