Applying for a Russian Business visa not in country of residence

Hi

I hold a UK passport and live in Ireland. I am planning my trip to Russia and Mongolia and back through Russia down to Georgia for next year.

I was planning to apply for my visa next Jan/Feb but can I do it through an agency in England who will handle all paperwork or do I have to apply through the Dublin embassy. Also as I want a 60 day multi entry/exit visa on the motorbike do I need to do anything other than send a copy of the registration document

My routes are planned, I know when I will enter and exit each time. I have allowed a few extra days in case I get tired

My experience, from having obtained 3 different multiple entry Russian business visas in the past 4 years, is that the application must be presented in your country of residence.

The whole process is a massive PITA, if you can find a visa agency to do the work for you, you won't begrudge them their fee.

Also be aware that it takes quite a long time (from 4 to 6 weeks) to get everything done.

Read the instructions provided on the forms very carefully. For example, if it says to fill in the form in black pen, be darn sure to fill it in with a black pen - I had one rejected because I used a (more common) dark blue ballpoint. Similarly, pay attention to the exact measurements specified for the photos.

Also be aware that you probably don't have to surrender your passport except at the very end of the process, and then only for a day or two. The initial application form only asks for a photocopy of the passport.

Sorry forgot to reply, I know a long time ago.

Yeah will use an agency, makes more sense. Think the forms can be done online and printed off, not sure though

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
