First big trip - to Morocco

Hi all, newbie here.

I'm planning a trip to Morocco to kick off in the middle of September.

Could you please tell me what documentation I will need.

I am currently rewing my British passort.

1. I've been told I would be able to get a Visa on the boat crossing between Spain and Morocco - is this true ??

2. I believe I need a Moroccan customs document for my wheels, which can be filled in online?

3. Re Money - I'm told that the Dehrum (I'm sure thats incorrectly spelt) is only available once you get to Morocco?

4. Any jabs/paperwork for jabs required??

Anything else I should know in terms of admin/legal stuff?

Cheers all
Dave

You'll need with you:

Full UK passport
V5
Green card for Morocco if you can get one
Euro's or dollars.
Driving license.

Once at the border (which could be on the boat if you take one of the longer crossings) you'll get the entry visa. If you don't get the green card at home they'll tell to you can only go to the first town unless they can sell you it there and then. Likewise you are correct that you can only officially get the cash once there. Hotels are easiest for exchange although cash machines work.

There are no requirements for jabs and if your bike has an MOT certificate keep it out of sight unless asked for it, they tend to cause confusion.

Enjoy your trip and don't worry about the paperwork. It can be time consuming but you'll get through in the end.

Enjoy your trip.

Morocco

Newby 2 here!

Hi Biglad

I'm going to Morocco, leaving Uk on the 8th Sept. I expect to be crossing around the 15th. If this fits with you - you'd be more than welcome to hook up. I've not been over before either. No problem if this doesn't fit with you.

Cheers

Hi Dave

Take a look at the GS Knowledgebase which will answer many of your questions: Morocco GS Knowledgebase - ::. UKGS'er.com .::

Details of the online temporary vehicle import form are at Complete your Moroccan temporary import form on the Internet - ::. UKGS'er.com .::

Ramadan will be on until the end of September and during this time Muslims don't eat, drink or smoke during daylight hours so in most places the cafes and restaurants will be closed during the day.

Shops will still be open so you will be able to buy water, bread, cheese triangles, sardines, etc. so at least you won't starve but it's polite not to eat in front of people, so head somewhere and have a picnic. Get some local fruit or some of the delicious and inexpensive biscuits called Tango (pronounced tanGO) to keep you going on the road.

Have a great time.

Tim
