Extra passport pages - no problem or big problem?

Hello!

I'm in the middle of a world tour and have realised that I'm running out of pages for visas in my passport. Has anyone else had this problem (am guessing it must be quite common) and is it a simple process to get extra pages in your passport or a serious hassle, or do I need a new passport altogether? I'm a British citizen and will apply at the British embassy in Bangkok. Any info would be great as have no idea whether this is a serious problem or if I'm worrying about nothing.
Thanks a lot, Jasper

If there is no space to put an entry stamp then this is a serious problem. I don't think you can get extra pages, so get a new passport in good time.

For others contemplating much travel take the trouble when getting a passport to ask for a model with extra pages. I know for a fact that a certain country offers for a few additional dollars passports with a larger number of pages than the standard issue for folks who plan to cross a lot of borders.Maybe your country will offer the same option.Beats having to seek a new passport in the midst of a tour.
Also when on the road take the trouble to politely request that the border officials try to put their stamps in a bit more organized, space saving pattern. Nothing is more maddening than to have them flip to a blank page to plonk one little stamp at the center, screws it fo the next one.

Earlier this year, in Argentina, my passport was nearly full. I took the passport to the US embassy, they added 26 pages (lettered, A-Z) to my passport while I went out for a coffee. I picked up the passport in less than an hour- and they didn't charge me anything. Try your country's embassy or consulate. By the way, Bakker makes a good point as my passport has suffered many page-wasting-sloppy-stamps!

I had the same experience as Hook with my country's consulate...no charge, no worries, no problem...
Its worth a try your local embassy/consulate via their website and see what they have to say...thats how I found my info; before heading in...

Extra passport pages.............

I had the same problem....not sure how it is in Britain, but in the US, extra pages are free. I went to my nearest embassy and they took care of it for free.
Now I have numbered pages as well as lettered pages.....it really confuses the people at the border stops.
FYI.....if one is in the USA...just mail your passport with an additional pages application, available at any post office or on the internet. They mail you back your passport only it is fatter with more pages and a stamped statement saying that the pages are official! Free!!!

Hope this helps.

If you get extra pages with an american passport (new one) it is 60 bucks extra. however, if you go to any embassy with your old one that is still valid, the pages are free but a small fee for the paperwork here in korea. I cn'at imagine Britain would be any less obliging.
