Extending a Carnet

I have a Carnet De Passage issued from Australia due to expire and I am currently in Pakistan.

I have been told by RACQ Australia to extend it in the country i am currently in. But from what I have been reading this will only work in Pakistan. How are you meant to be issued a carnet that is valid for a further year for all countries?

Am i meant to get issued a new one from Australia?
Thanks

Hi Danielle,

We have renewed our Australian issued carnet 2 years running.

Here is the email we received from Peppina (the lady from the Australian Automobile Association, when it came to paying for this she put us on to the lady from RACQ in Queensland, we were able to pay by credit card and had the carnets posted to Thailand the first year and Malaysia the 2nd.

We just filled in the forms and scanned and emailed to Peppina.
Your need the following

· new Insurance Premium to cover the next 12 months, the amount will depend on which countries you require the Carnet to cover, this will be payable to the RACQ

· $400 issuing fee

· a new signed declaration form including the countries you will be travelling through

· copy of your current vehicle registration papers

· forwarding address for the carnet, if required by courier it will be at your own expense

Hope this helps

Ann

That's tough...Peppina is a legend. I made sure I told her how appreciated she is when I returned my last carnet and hope everyone does the same.

At first I found the NRMA ok, but then the lady there went on maternity leave and there were 2 people covering the job along with their normal responsibilities. Luckily for me Peppina was there...

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
