European Insurance

Ok folks, sorry if I'm posting a thread that's been done to death, but I can't find what I'm looking for here or anywhere else.
Right, I'm over in mainland Europe on my Irish motorbike. My insurance company back home gives 90 days cover on the continent, after that I have to just cancel, no extensions accepted. So I have 14 days left to get another company, one that will insure and Irish reg bike over here for a few months. If they'll cover Morocco too would be a bonus, but without is not a deal breaker, I think I can get that at the border.
Anyone know a quick answer to this, any help would be appreciated! :thumbup1:

Insurance.

Hi, Stefan at Knopf Tours can post out insurance for you. He's trustworthy though not the cheapest option, then again he is doing work and does other if necessary at no extra cost. Welcome I think he uses Colonia Insurance in Luxembourg though I couldn't find them in an impatient, quick net search. Lindsay.

Under the EU's First Directive on Motor Insurance all Insurance issued in one member state MUST include 'minimum legal' cover in all other EU states for the entire policy duration.

What many UK policies additionally include is 'full policy' cover for a limited period within the year - but they also have to include 'minimum legal' for the rest of the year.

I suspect what you are reading is a reference to the 'full policy' cover being restricted to 90 days.

Look at your Certificate of Insurance (which is to satisfy Police that you have 'minimum legal' insurance) and read the notes, including on the reverse - they will not refer to a limited period. Or should not!

I was just looking for an answer to a similar question! This site is good, and insurance companies are tricky.
Thanks again.
