EU visa and carnet questions

Hi all,
I'm currently getting to the end of 6 months riding round SE Asia and am planning to ship to Europe via Turkey some time in December. I'm an Australian and the bike is under a carnet on Aus registration. Question is, how does the visa and carnet work in the EU? Do I just get one stamp in each when I cross into Greece and for any other Aussies that have done it, how long can I stay in the EU? Some web sites I have searched mention 3 months out of 6, hopefully thats not the case.

Carnet is not used in Europe. If you have it do use it for Turkey to save fees. When you land in Greece and if you don't need the carnet any further then get the certificate of presence on the last page stamped as required by the AAA and send it back for your deposit refund.

Can't help you with EU visa (so-called Schengen visa). Contact the nearest Greek embassy who will give you the details. I GUESS you will be limited to 6 months.

Since you have a carnet why not ride to Europe? Iran is GREAT, I'm there right now.

Thanks for the info, I'll probably go check with the embassies when I get to Bangkok mid December. Good to know about the carnet too, I was woried about running out of pages in it as I've used it for every country here so far. It's a lot easier than trying to fill out there temp import forms. I know, I should ride from Nepal to Turkey but I've no real interest in going through India and I'm now looking forward to getting to Europe.
