Carnet de passage-Siria, Jordania, Iran

Anyone knows If the Carnet de Passage is needed to travel in Siria, Jordania and Iran????
I'm from Barcelona and travel width a spanish bike.

hi yes a carnet is needed for Iran and if you are thinking of moving on to Pakistan you will need one there as well. Imanaged to get a visa for iran years ago but it seems to be more difficult now as the pakistan one the same. Think positive and good luck .

It is for Syria and Iran, not sure about Jordan though.

Yes, Carnet is required for Syria and Iran (for Iran, make sure you get the top-level one, which also covers for Egypt, Pakistan and India).

For Jordan, I can't quite remember whether it is required or accepted, but this is academic if you have it anyway!

Interestingly, you can actually get into Pakistan without one but have to pay some sort of deposit on entry and get escorted all the way through. But you will DEFINITELY be stuffed if you try and enter India without one, as evidenced by the impounded foreign vehicles at Wagah Customs.

Carnet required from the time you leave Turkey unless you are heading back into Bulgaria/Greece so that also means Jordan. isn't life fun. Ride safe

Hello, today I crossed from Jordan in to Syria. I used my carnet and it took only half an hour for the formalities. I think it is essential for the countries you mention. On the other hand you can meet people, who can say that they entered without. But imagine having to communicate in arabic and how much time it will take you to pass through. In my opinion take carnet with you. I think, it makes things easier. Ride safe.

Now I'm confused. I was pretty sure you din't need a carnet for Syria and for Jordan it was advisable. I've left out Egypt from my comming trip so I wouldn't have to worry about a carnet. Are you absolutely sure about needing a carnet for these two Countries?.

Hi Rinus,

Don't worry,is doabble without carnet for both Syria and Jordan,but will cost you much higher.Unfortunately can't tell you exactly how much.

We crossed Turkey/Syria border at 24th September 08,there was a german biker crossed the border without carnet,but didn't ask him for the price.

Thank you Simon, it's good to know that it can be done without the carnet.
As you mentioned, it would be nice to know what the costs would be.
So if anybody knows I would be verry gratefull if they would so kind to tell me.
