Dual Citizenship Importation

Hi,
I am both a citizen of France and US
Going to be shipping my bike to France, living all over Europe for awhile (2-3 years), then travelling across Asia towards the east.

The bike is registered in US.
While in Europe, should i maintain the US registration? What about insurance?

thanks

Yes, keep your rego.

Look in this forum on "Green Card" for insurance.

However, if you need a carnet for the Asia part try organising this in advance. Don't take out the carnet in advance, though, as it only lasts a year, just get the paperwork organised with the CAA, so all you have to do is send them the money and they send you the carnet.

It's easier (and probably a lot cheaper, too) to sell your bike, take up residence in France and buy a bike here. I'm assuming you have family here who will let you use their address...

Beddhist,
Can you give me any examples of pricing for used BMW's in S France, or anywhere else in Europe?

I have a 1979 R100t in excellent shape and would not expect to find it's equal very easily. But a F650 would be very nice.

Thanks for those links.

Germany has much better prices.
