DRC Embassy in London

Due to the latest regulations by the DRC, one has to obtain the tourist visa in your country of residence.

Their website says it takes 15 days to process, but we don't have 15 days. Also there is no mention of an express option on their website and no one picks up the phone.

Short of actually going there, does anyone have any experience with this?

Update

So I've managed to speak to someone at the DRC office in London and they parted with the following information:
Normal visa 20-30 days
"Express" service 10 days.

I have no idea why the fastest option is still 10 days, I am assuming its because they send your passport away.

I'll post any more updates once we lodge the application.

Update

Passports and application now lodged with the DRC office in London.

Their visa office is literally a desk in a passage.

The visa forms and a copy of the passport get sent to Kinshasa for processing, but the passport stays in London. The person at the desk does not check your application, its up to you to make sure you have everything there.

One requirement is a copy of an air ticket. Since we are going overland, we don't have this, so we've lodged copies of our V5's and carnets. We have no idea if this is suitable.

The "express" service costs £95 each and payment needs to be in the DRC embassy's bank account, with proof of payment submitted with your application.

We have been told to pick up our passports on Wednesday 12th, I'll post an update after this.

Visa done

Visa obtained without any problems.

We received an email asking for proof of hotel booking, which we obtained and forwarded to them. This did not delay the application process, thankfully.

Time to hit the road!
