Customs doc required to export a Chionese bike
Yesterday we were turned away from the Mongolian border crossing by the Chinese border guard because he said it is illegal to drive a Chinese motorcycle out of China (we are riding a BMW Powered Chang Jiang). With some help from some friends in Erenhot (Erlian) we found that there is a new regulation that requires a Chinese Customs document for the export(?) of a Chinese motorcycle (Chinese vehicle?). Without this document, you cannot leave. I have no idea if this also applies to "foreign" bikes.
In any case our friends are working to get this document today and if I learn more, I will mpost additional information.
