Just arrived from Australia at LAX and need to get my motorbike out of customs - does anyone know a good customs broker in LA who can process bikes?

Thanks Grant;
Yesterday,from airport,I waited all night long at U.S customs office as the officer told me that I need to have some special documents,EPA and DOT forms prepared by broker. However,next morning I asked again to United cargo center and they told me that I don't need a broker. So,I asked again to the same officer and he still insisted that I need a broker then he try to find a brochure which show rules to explain to me again. But...Funny thing was happened.. On the brochure,there is an exception rule; Those vehicle imported by nonresidents for personal use not exceeding one year need not conform to emission or safety requirements but may not be sold in the U.S . Then,he was little embarassed and got the airway bill stamped with a big smile..!! Woops,so I'm here Glandale in L.A on my Korean friends house,with my bike..^^ The next step is sending the money for U.S temparary insurance and buy some stuff like rocks,cover and camping gear. What a first big step..!! (Thanks Vicky(Alec's wife) to help me with this..!!) ------------------ [This message has been edited by motoride (edited 08 May 2005).] |
