Carnets needed for Balkans, Turkey, Morocco

HI there
Can anyone tell us whether they have travelled recently in these countries without Carnets. Differing info again on this online. We are travelling on two bikes, UK and US passports.
Cheers

Also definitely not needed for Greece, Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina or Slovenia. (Which is a highly recommended route through the Balkans.)

Thanks Guys. We think it looks a really exciting route as well especially since we have had to drop Middle East as such.. Balkans particularly looks exciting and can't wait to get stuck into Turkey....woohoo !!:scooter:

Does anyone know whether there is an import/export duty on each border at all?

xander2 22 Oct 2008 09:45

No taxes, no carnets needed....

be sure to take a greencard though. Insurance available at borders (about 10 Euro's) but Macedonia is 50 Euro's!!! (even for a day)

Balkans is a fantastic area to :mchappy: around......have fun!!!

Turky

Hi! Dont go inside Turky in November. It is too cold. Use Mediteranium coast.

JulieBuny 22 Oct 2008 21:38

Thanks KTM. We thought we would probably have to stick to coast so were going to go along the black sea as far as probalby Zonguldak andthendown through the centre bypass Ankara to the coast and work our way back along the coast to exit at Cesme or somewhere we can get across to Sicily...

Think its doable??

As previously mentioned, no Carnets/taxes/duties - just on-the-border insurances if you haven't got already (see my post re Bosnia insurance scam). Please visit Sarajevo, a top place!:thumbup1:
