Carnets Help Please
I am planning a trip from London to Cape Town travelling down the east coast of africa in Oct 2008, so will be in Africa a few days after leaving the UK. How far in advance should I apply for carnets?

Any info would be very much appreciated.

There is some stuff (a lot actually) over in the planning section - paper work ... left side of screen.

Preferably as short as possible before starting the journey, because the carnet is valid for one year only and can be extended only once as far as I know. Besides that, it took me half an hour to get the carnet fixed.

thanks guys
have any of you done the east side route to cape town,if so,how often did you camp,or have to camp i should say.
mocambique down to the cape i am ok as i lived there.
its just that bloody great bit above.
will be two up with wife.what are your views on safty with a female in northern part ?
