Are carnet's easier to obtain in Nepal, rather than Inida?

Hi, planning on flying to India late 2008 (depending on the cash situation) and buying an enfield, then riding home, through nepal/kashmir/pakistan/iran/turkey... im in the early stages of planning, and only just found out about the need for a carnet de passage. ive recently read that you can only get one of these/buy a bike in india if you are a resident. but have just read that it is a lot easier to get a carnet and bike legally if bought in nepal. this is something i hadn't even considered, does anybody have any experience of this?

and another little question... is it possible to apply for a pakistan visa from india, then an iranian visa from pakistan? i know that you can get a visa for india from nepal, but wondering if pakistan/iranian visas need to be arranged before i leave england.

happy new year to all!

funny, I'm planing to do the same thing -buying a bike in Nepal and riding it to Germany. if you have any helpful information so far, please let me know!

I'm in Kathmandu already, but finding it quite difficult to buy a good bike here. I's quite expensive, compared to India. and the whole carnet issue for enfields seems to be a pain in the ass.

but if you need any visa help in Nepal, let me know, since I'm working for an embassy.

Happy chinese new year!

Cheers, Phil
