carnet woes

Hi,
Anyone know what the situation is at the RAC with carnets? I've tried phoning several times and sometimes get put through to Paul Gowens voicemail, sometimes not, sometimes they don't know what a Carnet is and suggest I phone the DVLA! I've also emailed and left voicemail messages asking for a Carnet info. pack but no joy. Is there a special trick to this? Anyone got a carnet from the RAC recently?
Matt

Same here, I phoned and mailed and no response (Is Paul Gowan the only person in the UK responsible for Carnets???)

His phone must be glowing red hot by now, I've been emailing/phoning to chase up a carnet refund.

Just got an auto reply from RAC:

I will be out of the office starting 13/12/2005 and will not return until
19/12/2005.

Paul is on sick leave until further notice. His e-mail will be checked
periodically but please be advised that all enquiries will be strictly
prioritised.

Which could mean anything, really. May try phoning RAC tomorrow and see if anyone is looking after Carnets while he's away. Shame, I believe if you can get hold of him he's v. helpful and knows his stuff. Lets hope he's better soon for two reasons!

Just got an email from a Malcolm Phillips at the RAC who seems to be covering for Paul. He's sending me a Carnet pack. He's using Pauls email (PKGowen@rac.co.uk) or I guess you could try phoning the RAC and asking specifically for Malcolm. Hope you guys get sorted out soon.
