carnet w/o entry stamp

What happens when your carnet has an exit stamp and no entry stamp? (regarding entering ethiopia via lake turkana) Will it be a problem later getting the bond back from the issuing agency?

Hi,
It all depends on the goodwill of the issuer. If you continue collecting the correct data for the next country(ies) you're visiting, and complete the final section when returning to your own country, you should have no problem getting your deposit back. The worst that can happen, in my opinion, is that the issuer will hold back the deposit for one year in anticipation of any claim to come in. But I think this is highly unlikely. So watch your documentation, forge if necessary, but not neccessarily.

Hi,

The moment your bike get,s back into your country and you get a statement from customs it,s there... They HAVE to return your bond.

Usually when you miss stamps you pay a small fee for "refreshing" the document. This is done with the above mentioned document.

Hope this helps

I had my Carnet stamped into the Netherlands but didnt get it stamped out when I left, didnt see a customs office! I was paranoid when I enterred Iran that it would be a problem, but no it was fine. When I returned home the bond was returned no problem as by entering Iran etc I had proved exit from the Netherlands.
cheers
