Carnet potential American in India
 

After posting several near hysterical messages I thought I share some good news for a change.

Getting a carnet for an American is a challenge. Our AAA doesnt issue them. You need to go through Canada if you're at home and don't have any challenging circumstances.

I was able to go through the UK AA only because I was able to get permission from the Canadian AA. You must get prior approval from them and have it faxed to the UK AA.

After a false start a week or so ago, I am now able to work with the UK AA and they have been extremely helpful, responsive and quick. The only snaffoo was getting the Canadian permission to go around them.

So far so good...
