Insurance Balkans - Montenegro, Bosnia (again)

I know there have been a few threads on this but trying to get the latest info. In 2009 we traveled through the Balkans and had cover for all the countries (named on a green card) issued by Groupama via Carole Nash. It seems that Groupama have this year restricted the countries that they issue green cards for - for instance, Morocco used to be covered but isn't any longer.

So, here's what I have:

Slovenia - covered automatically
Croatia - covered via green card
Bosnia - covered via green card (green card cost for the above two was £36.00)
Montenegro - no green card available
Serbia - no green card available.

Has anyone found away of getting a green card for Montenegro, or recent experience of getting one at the border?

Gruoupama Green Card

Im about to go on a Baltic tour with friends & we realised our cover didn't extend to Bosnia or Montenegro. My cover was with Aviva through MCE, they said they would issue a Green Card fro Montenegro but would not touch Bosnia.
My friend was insured via Carole Nash , he had to change his policy to Groupama but got full cover for these countries.
So I went back to MCE and I was also able to change my policy to Groupama and get fully comp plus Green Card issued for these countries- in fact they are issuing me a Green Card for all of my trip and all of the countries I will be travelling in.
The downside is that they are expensive- double my Aviva policy, plus £30 for the green card, but on the plus side if anything does happen I do have cover, and after all that's what insurance is all about & in relation to the value of my bike, I think it's worth it.
From my web research over the last few days it does seem like Groupama are the only insurers who will cover these countries,so I would recommend that anyone thinking of taking a Baltic trip thinks about this at the time of your renewal and not like me with 10 days to go!

depends if it is baltic or balkans, they are a way apart...

I would say you have a good deal, I recently bought insurance for Bosnia at Borsanska Gradski. It was a bit terrifying after leaving behind bike and passport and usured into a back street by a Serbian version of Derek Trotter. It was all OK but a weeks cover of 3rd party cover for Bosnia was 37 euros.

Whatever, you will find Bosnia a fanatstic tour. watch out for speed traps on the main routes, I think they are after easy toursit money. go far from the big roads if you can, they are fantasitc and much leas speed trap orientated.

Watch out when it rains, it often will wash large boulders into the road when you are in sharp sided passes. If you go to Sarajevo (you must) head for the hostel Posillipo. It is close to the old town, good place for bikes and Sabinia makes a lovely coffee, (Say Dave from UK sent you).

Have a great journey. It is a fantastic unspoilt place. the war is still raw in may places, it makes it a great trip, but don't go off roading if you can't guarentee mines haven't been cleared.

go easy Dude..

Dave

I entered Montenegro from Kososvo and was charged 10 euros for 15 days insurance. reasonable I thought.
