Insurance for Australia

Hi guys, I posted this question on the Facebook page and had no luck. Does anyone have a clue on how to insure a British registered bike for travelling through Australia, the bike leaves this Friday and I collect it in August and I’m not having any luck sorting any leads and don’t want to wait to fly out and then start looking, would be nice to have it in place when I arrive.
Fingers crossed and I hope you have some answers.
Denver

This was a bit of a nightmare at first, principally because Australian Insurers don't often handle bikes/vehicles which are not registered in Australia.

However we obtained CTP insurance through AAI Limited (trading as Suncorp)

At first it seemed that we'd need to get insurance for every state and for NT separately, and that ACT would be impossible, however we found that the insurance we found in Queensland covered us for everywhere.

Note - this is CTP, we didn't try to get more than this.

Hi Denver, did you manage to get insurance in the end? We are riding our UK registered bike from Sydney to Perth in Feb and have the same problems with insurance. I have followed Alanymarce's advice above and have emailed Suncorp but am interested to know how you got on? Cheers, Lobo

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
