carnet de passage

Hi, we are planning trip early 2005, france, spain, morroco and aiming for dakar. would we need carnet de passage? if someone has a list of trip essentials I would be interested the planning side of things take a lot of thought. Is electric ignition and fuel injection a problem in africa climate?

I have been there 2 years ago and i dit it also without a carnet! the longest stretch you need to carry patrol will be in mauretannie, about 520km through the dessert and along the beach! If you have a GPS and you know how do drive a motorbike in sand donLt need a guide but they will try hard do sell you one!
