Cancelling Credit cards to use as duds
 

Not sure if this is the best place to ask the question as it's not really paperwork as such...

I'm thinking of taking a 'phoney' wallet with a small amount of cash in it which can be given up if needed.

For 'authenticity' I'm thinking of adding some credit cards to it. Has anyone any experience of applying for, and then cancelling a credit card? I like this idea as the name would match and the expiry dates would still be valid.

I can't see anything against it in any of the T&Cs online, but I'm sure someone here has done this before?

Might be easier to phone and report your 'real' credit cards as lost or stolen. Then they'll send you a new one and the old one can be used as a dud. Saves the effort of filling in application forms, and any possible effect on your credit rating.

might be against T&Cs but how will anyone find out? if the dud card gets stolen and turns up somewhere, well you lost it right?

Two wallets one with two expired cards some low currency notes and a few pictures.

My good wallet next to my skin on a chain, a card on the bike tapped well away from eyes and fingers, and one in my boot under the soft sole. As there is no one brave enough to go into my boots after a days riding.

But I've never had any problems so I'm just overly Paranoid.
