Can I buy insurance at the Bulgaria border

Hi

Does anyone know if I can buy insurance just for Bulgaria at the Turkish/Bulgaria border? I'm in Turkey now and I'll store my bike in Bulgaria for the winter. The bike is registered in Australia and I'm on an NZ passport. I only need insurance for a couple of days. I got a quote from Knoftours for 195 euros for 30 days plus 115 euros to DHL it to me!!! Way too expensive!

Can anyone help? I'll come back in May and continue around Europe and sort out proper Greencard insurance then.

Thanks for your help

Mark

Mark .. 'probably'

The option to buy BG insurance at the border was suggested to me by Ivo who works at MotoCamp Bulgaria. Fact is though I didn't need BG temporary insurance cover, as I crossed the border last month (October), from Turkey, with a green card up my sleeve.

Incidentally, we have some common ground, as my NZ-rego'd bike is currently parked-up and stored in Bulgaria, pending my return next May.

best

Keith

As long as your bike is not registered in the EEA, you 'should' be able to buy it

Hi Mark, insurance policy that you can buy at Bulgarian border is going to be border insurance policy that can be used throughout EU. That will do just fine for you, and regarding the Knopf, in my personal opinion that rate is enormous ! I'm sending email to you also

If you are going to stay some more in Turkey and Ivo can arrange it,
you have a safe address in istanbul and I can bring it to any place in İstanbul as soon as I receive the post.
All the best..

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
