buying a used bike in the U.K. Travel central Europe, carnet - Horizons Unlimited

I am planning to purchase a bike in the U.K. and travel western/southern Europe this summer. I am not familiar with carnet, if it applies to a bike from the U.K. travelin in EU countries, and if the insurance should be gotton before I leave home. Also, is there a map system that will allow the most scenic touring geared toward motorcycling? Anyone want to come for a leg of the journey as well?

Hi KB,

No carnet needed for a UK bike in the EU, you'll also be able to get into Turkey if you want to - well worth the visit.

Most UK bike insurance policies now cover you for all EU countries and many also cover Turkey. You may find it difficult to get insurance in the UK without an address there, but there may be specialists who will do it.

I will be looking to purchase a good running, inexpensive bike while in London early July. I am looking for 600-900 touring style and will consider all options.
