Buying a new BMW F700GS in Cape Town, Carnet advice?
I am buying a new BMW F700GS in Cape Town and plan to ride to Egypt. I am a US citizen and exploring getting a Carnet. If I get one in South Africa they want me to pay 100% of the value of the bike. I heard that CAA will give US citizens a Carnet even if they are purchasing a bike overseas. Anyone here care to shed some light on that? I plan to call them in a day or so but wondered if anyone knows if this can be done? Thanks.
