buying a bike in us or canada?

Hi guys,
I just arrived from my TTR250 trip india-belgium. yep, back home but not for long..

as i dont wanna do any shipping, i am thinking of buying a secondhandbike in the us or canada (whatever is more easy) to drive it all the way down southamerica and sell it there again..

can anybody help me out here?
can i register a bike there? what would be the cost? and can i sell it then aftherwoods in the south?
no need of a carnet, i found out so far..

thanks a lot
a budget traveller

just wanted to add: maybe any other american country is easier then the 2 mentioned above. just need a regisration somewhere..any tips welcome

In Canada you are required to have a permanent address in order to register a vehicle as well as a valid insurance (pink) card.

You could however arrange for the purchase before you arrive and insure and register it at home and simply bring the plate with you if you think that may be easier.

hi,
oeps sounds more difficult. so i need a permanent adress and everything...thats the same for the us? i was thinking of buying on the spot a secondhand one, so the option of bringing the plates en register it in belgium is out of the question
