buying a bike in poland

Hi,

My boyfriend and I have just moved to Poland and hope to buy bikes here to ride to South Africa next year. Any ideas if it's possible to register as a foreigner (I have an EU passport, he's got an Aussie one), and getting a carnet here??

thanks
lauren

HI Lauren

I live in Ireland but I do a lot of work in Poland. I'll ask a Polish Girl in my office on Monday about how to get a carnet amd come back to you.
What part of Poland do you live in so I can advise you on buying a bike.
Off the top of my head I think you might get a better deal by crossing the border into Germany and buying one there

Gary

Hi Gary,

We're living in Rybnik about 100km southwest of Krakow. Did you mean it'd be cheaper to buy the bike or the carnet in Germany??
Thanks for any info you can give.
Lauren

Wink No problem

Hi,
Over on the left of this page there is a Polski community and there is a lot of info about carnets under the planning/paperwork section.
If you do a search for the word carnet you will find a load more information about peoples knowledge of these.

Cheers,

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
