Bonded Title and Traveling Through Central/South America
I am going to be riding from Arizona to Argentina and I lost the title to my KLR before I got it transfered over to me. So I am applying to get a "bonded title".
I assume that at borders I will need to present my title at times. Will this "bonded title" give me hassles? I am wondering if I should start looking for a new bike to buy because I don't have the proper paperwork

I have not had to present a title yet, though I carry mine. Registration is all they want. Furthermore, except at the USA border no one can read English (often it is clear that even Spanish is a problem), so no one will know anything about bonded titles or anything else. Just present documents with confidence and you will be fine.
As evidence, I offer the fact that I have been using an expired registration and expired licence (complete with big hole punched through it) for the 7 months of my current trip, and no one has questioned either. But I do carry real docs just in case. Hope that helps. Mark

I have no idea how AZ works but can't you simply get a duplicate title? I've not heard the term "bonded title" before. But if it looks like a title and has the VIN and plate number on it and your name, then its just a title to anyone you show it to.
I would make a GOOD quality color copy and use that day to day. Same with registration, license and passport too. Use copies when you can. Keep originals stashed safe.

You don't have anything to indicate that you own the bike? How do you register it, insure it, prove ownership to cops at home....?
Again, you don't need a title. You need registration, and it's got to be in your name. Do whatever it takes to obtain this. Hope that helps. Mark
