Bike insurance question
 

hello, Im planning to ride from Europe to the Far East (possibly Thailand) starting next September. Turkey-Iran-Pakistan-India, then ship or fly the bike forward to get there. I´ve a brand new Vstrom650 but the insurance company here in Finland says their coverage is only for Europe.

So there wouldnt be any insurance on the bike if I take it outside Europe.. primarily im worried about theft (and fire), if I screw up on the road myself then so be it, I will of course try to avoid that. But the thought of losing the bike completely, if someone manages to steal it, or if it catches fire.. not very likely but still possible, and there might be nothing you can do to prevent that. The bike costs nearly 10.000 euros here.

Any info, if its possible to find some company that can provide insurance for such purposes? If not, or if the prices turn out to be ridiculous, then I think I will have to get a much cheaper bike that I can afford to lose totally in worst case.

How do people usually go on trips like these.. no insurance against theft, etc. at all??
