Bike insurance Colombia-FYI
Hi!
Hope this hasn´t already been posted somewhere but just fyi: we were able to buy the Colombian SOAT insurance for our bike for just one month for a mere 16USD. Normally, the minimum seems to be one year... This was only possible at Previsora Seguros, however. They have offices everywhere in Colombia, we got ours in Popayan. You need to bring copies of your license, the import document for your bike and the registration and you´re all set! Julia

Colombia SOAT Insurance for a 1 month term
Julia, thanks for the tip, I just purchased a one month SOAT policy from Previsora today, and it was incredibly easy. It was 30,000 pesos (or about $17 USD). Their contact info is:
Calle 57 # 9-07 (57 1) 348 5757 I would call them if at all possible prior to arriving to make sure you can get the policy you're looking for. If you are already in Bogota, I would strongly recommend taking a taxi to this place as it is a bit difficult to find if you're not used to driving in the city. To clarify, SOAT is the bare minimum insurance to keep you legal. There are also supplementary policies that you can purchase, but most HUBBers do not elect to get extra coverage (in fact, a good portion seem to prefer driving without any insurance at all).
