Asia and Insurance questions

Does anyone know how much it cost to insure
(3rd party fire theft) at the entrance in Ukraine and Rusian Fed per month? week? (1 bike 1 rider)

Does anyone has any info on insurance further than that: Kazastan, uzbeck, kyrgyzs, tajick, pakistan Iran turkey and India?

And suggestions on medical and travel insurance for motorists?

What about UK policies. Is there any that allows you to stay abroad more than 1 or 3 months?
can the be extanded with purchase of green cards? (Price?)
If you stay away for a year (or nearly), is your uk insurance still valid and renewable?

Thanks in advance!

Hey, I'm answering my own questions (hah)!

Here's axcerpt from Practical details on driving through Rissia and Mongolia
at
http://dreamers1.com/russia/Practica....htm#Insurance

"In the end we just bought insurance in Vladivostok from

DAL ACFES Insurance Company

"We dealt with Sergey Rakuta who spoke excellent English. Their office is on the way to the port. The insurance policy we bought included 3rd party insurance and theft. Three months cost us US$135."

I hope the link and info is useful for others, still, any info about the mentioned countries wecomeD!

For Iran and Turkey either get a valid Green Card from your GB insurance, or buy third party at the border. If your GB insurance won't cover you for theft then I don't think you'll find one. In any case, theft risk is low in Asia.

For India and Pak don't bother. Just don't have an accident...

Some of those countries you mentioned may have insurance for sale at the border, but getting a claim paid out successfully would be an entirely different matter.
Beddhist is right, just don't crash. Insurance is a form of gambling anyway.

You are right, Sean, for claims against your own insurance, e.g. theft. However, TP is compulsory in some countries, like TR or Iran. It's not a good idea to be without if you have an accident, even if you are not at fault. It is your "opponents" problem to claim against your TP insurance, so not really an issue for us. Been there...

In countries where it's not required, e.g. India, just don't bother even with TP.
