Apply for Kazachstan Visa on the road in Russia

Hi,

Does anyone have recent experience to apply for Kazachstan visa from Russia? Would that be possible maybe? As far as I know an invitation is not needed anymore. We will be on the road in Russia and like to arrange a visum in one day somewhere in Russia along the route.

If so, is this possible on the route between Ukrain and Kazachstan?

Central Asia Visas

HI Jurgen
I recommend you get in touch with David at Stantours
STANTOURS - Central Asia Travel Resources
He always seems to have the most up to date info and gives unbiased advice. I know it is possible to get the Kazakh visa on the road (I got mine in Baku) but it depends on individual embassies and consulates, and I don't know what it would be like in Russia.
Good luck with your trip

There are Kazakh embassies / consulates in Moscow, St Petersburg (I think), Astrakhan and Omsk.

I don't know anything about the places in the west, but I can confirm that the consulate in Omsk does not ask for any invitation for the standard one-month, single entry tourist visa. I heard on the grapevine that the consulate in Astrakhan IS asking for invitations, though this may not be true. Best to call them and ask.

David at Stantours is a great guy to ask for information, and provides a very professional service, but you shouldn't need any assistance to get a 1 month, single entry tourist visa, if you are from a western country.

Thank you very very much for your answers. I will check with the Embassy in Astrakhan, or ask this Stan guy if he knows about it.

There still might be an option to get the visa on time here in the Netherlands, but this option will be plan B then, if things are not finished at the departure date.

Hi - if it's of any help I got my Kazakh visa from the consulate in Omsk in 3 working days in June 2008. I asked for a double-entry but the simplified (without a Letter of Invitation) procedure for EU passport-holders only allows a single-entry. If you want double, you'll have to speak to David at StanTours about what's required or have a word with your Dutch Kazakh embassy before you leave the Netherlands - do not make the mistake, as I did, of assuming it could be converted to double-entry once in Kaz.

The Overland Travel Tips and Eastern Russia / Kazakhstan sections of my website go into some detail re this - overlandcruiser.net
