anyone from colorado?

greetings

I'm an aussie and I just bought a bike from colorado, and I'm now looking into how to register it there, before I head off to central and south america. I'm not sure (from the website) if I need an address there or what is exactly involved in registering a bike there. If anyone could help out it would be greatly appreciated.

cheers
troy

Registering a Motorcycle in Colorado

Hi, I just joined the forum and am way too late to answer your question from a few years ago. However, I am posting the answer in case others need to know.

In Colorado the Department of Revenue handles the responsibility of the DMV. This link is from their website and contains all the information you need to register a vehicle in Colorado: Department of Revenue - Division of Motor Vehicles:Registering a Vehicle

As you can imagine motorcycle theft is a problem in Colorado. From time to time a thief will try and sell a bike to a unsuspecting person. If a person selling a bike in Colorado does NOT have a Colorado Title - be extra suspicious. You can check the bike VIN number for free at this website to see if it is reported stolen: https://www.nicb.org/theft_and_fraud_awareness/vincheck

If you do purchase a bike withOUT a Colorado Title, then you are going to have some extra paperwork to take car of, including a VIN inspection by a police officer. Details here:Department of Revenue - Division of Motor Vehicles:Requirements

Pretty much everything you do at Department of Revenue requires a driver's license, passport or military ID along with proof of insurance.

You can also check the VIN on CarFax to see if it was involved in a reported crash: [url=http://www.carfax.com/entry.cfx]CARFAX

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
