Another US Visa Q - the online form (DS 156)
 

Anyone use the new online application page ?

I have filled out the online DS156 application form at http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new...lectronic.html and it all appears OK, except the barcode on page 3 does not look right to me.

The one on page 2 looks standard but the one on page 3 looks scrambled between the end bars. Has anyone got a copy that they can confirm mine is ok or not ?

I checked the online form (DS156). Dont be concerned with the differnce between the two barcodes. They are both correct. They are two different types of barcodes and readable by different machines. The vertical bars at each end are the standard start/stop configuration.

While there is a topic on US Visa regulations...

I have a 10hrs stop over in Dallas, am a German passport holder on transit from Chile to UK.

I understand there is some sort of 8hrs limit for no Visa and no US Address...

Question:
Do I need to set up home in the US for a 10hrs stop over?

Is there anybody in Dallas who would like to meet up for a drink or shopping on 06 January 2007 (arrive 06:something, leave 18:something)?

An address to put down if needed would be welcome!

Thanks, that sets my mind at rest. Next I need to sort out an inyterview, pretty hard as I have just been to France, am off to San Fran in 2 weeks and Rome in November. I've managed ti get in and out of the UK once with no passport via the Ferries, but I doubt it would be so easy by air :-)

The US Male form DS-157?
 

I'm flying on a one way ticket from London to Seattle.
Then pick up a bike and bits to head south.
I have my US tourist visa this week so just checking up on all my paperwork requirements?

Theres the sexist DS-157 form for males only between the ages of 14-65.

Question 18. is 'Have you made any specific Travel Arrangements? Y/N

If Yes provide a complete itinerary.......dates/locations/flights/flight info/contacts.............etc.

The truth is I don't specificly have a plan apart from I'm not intending to be in the US for more than 10weeks.

If I say 'No' is this going to slow down my visa application?
Because I can make up a general agenda if it will help the protocol.

Tommy - a word of support - the US government seems to be absolutely hysterical at the moment, full of fear about foreigners - its so sad. Im sure youll win through in the end.

The DS-157 is a supplement to DS-156. It was added after Sept 11. So far most terrorists have been young males who entered on non-immigrant visas.. Until that changes the 'sexist' attitude probably will not change.

The question is *If* you have plans. Everyone has some plans even if they do not have a detailed itinerary.

You have a plan. It may not have much detail - but it is a plan. Put it down. If 'they' want more datail .. tell them your thoughts change as you go, so the plan is to do what ever looks best when there.. and that is still a plan. And a good one it is too.

Was down at the US embassy in London this morning.
Only 3 security screenings but all went smoothly. Its like a fortress down there! They didn't seem to mind about specific travel plans, more interested in when I was leaving...........

Basic I know but;
By the looks of things if you turn up with all your paperwork in order and filled in it'll save you a day of waiting. I was speaking with a few people who had had to repeatedly go back to the booths, whilst supplimental paperwork was filled in and rearranged. Added many hours to their trip.
