All carnet pages needed ? ( to save DHL-courir costs )
Hey folks !
Currently in Uganda/Kampala, my parents managed to obtain a carnet de passage for my vespa, that they are about to send to Kampala with a new piston. The carnet itself is pretty bulky and not really nicely foldable. Ideal would be to roll it around the 56mm piston, after folding it once to save volume. Do I need all pages of the carnet when crossing into Sudan + Egypt ? ( thats why I got the carnet, travelled down the westcoast without one ) Wouldn´t it be possible to only send 5 pages from the ones, that are all similar anyway ? greetings from the shore of lake victoria, Chris

Hi,
If it really makes a difference of shiping costs i would rip the bottom parts of the pages you dont need off and keep them, Then if you return the carned you can stick them back on again so everyone can see the carned is complete. I just wonder what the customs people think...they are use to see many old stamps on the riped off carned pages... Travel save, Tobi

NO!!! Don't rip any pages out, or anything off the pages!
It is an official customs document and if you deface it you will almost certainly invalidate it. It would be like ripping pages out of your passport and presenting them at immigration. The cover/back of the carnet may well contain key info (ours from the UK set out what countries it covered there for example). The bottom third of each page is for the entry port to rip off and keep, whilst the middle section is left at the departure port.

You got to be kidding...
If you are not, do not touch the Carnet, It is an official document you will risk a lot of problems in places like Egypt or Sudan and worse even you may forfait your deposit upon return... I think there will be absolutely no difference in DHL cost between maybe 20 versus maybe 50 grams... Safari Njema!
