G'day Kiwi

I'm doing this route (in stages) right now.

The next stage for me is Bali ~~> up to the Thai-Malay Peninsula, from mid-May to mid-July. I'll pick it up again (following stage) shortly after Christmas.

Why in 2-3 month stages at a time, you might well ask? Answer: just because it suits my personal circumstances right now, or at least for the foreseeable future.

Cheers - keep in touch

KEITH

we'll be leaving darwin for east timor around oct 2012 and are happy to meet up with other riders along the way. we'll be heading into SE asia, flying the bike across burma for some time in india, then in to china from nepal - as clive mentioned, we're looking for others to split costs on this part of the trip (around may-june 2013) - see the thread at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...-sharing-61656

after that we'll spend some time in the stans, head to turkey and in to europe.

let's stay in touch

Whose planning Australia to London via East Timor August 2012?

Hi Kiwi Videos,

I'm planning to ride from Perth WA to the UK, leaving August 1. Please visit here: Share My Oyster: When and Where to see if I'm the kind of person you'd like to share bits of the trip with or just info. I'm sure we'll bump into each other along the way regardless.

Cheers, David.

Nepal to Kyrgyzstan might not be impossible, if your timing is right..... but you will have to get to Tibet (´sensitive area´ = costs more, and has also been restricted for foreigners from time to time). And on that route, you will also stay inside China a lot longer, than if you´d cross to China from Pakistan via the Karakoram Highway, and then proceed to Kyrgyzstan.

So unless you have some specific reason, why you cannot, or don´t want to go to Pakistan, in order to keep the costs down, the KKH route could also be worth considering.

Hi Clive,

I'm hoping to go Nepal, India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey etc. There's lots that I wish to see in those countries, but I would love to go through China should that be possible with a group. I guess I'd have to wait and see who's available when I get into Thailand.

It would be great to see you out there! Best way to keep in touch with me is Twitter... @sharemyoyster.

David.

Thanks for the replies

Thank you guys for the replies, seems a few more people will get conected though the Horizons website.
As so often out on the road someone else can be heading the same way, just five minutes ahead sometimes but never catch one another.

I,d far rather go though china and seen that people had trying the group thing too cut down the high cost but was figuring that the majority by far are traveling west-east direction. Another reason too find out those planning East-West direction.

Myself I was looking earlier too cross over but will be in contact.

I'm about to move to Broome - so you Perthlings should get in touch when you're about to hit the road. Even if it's just a space to chuck up your tent, I'm sure I can help with a place to crash there, and will have already done the preliminary research on the best places to find a

Hi Kiwi-videos,

Please don't think me rude, but I can't personal message you until I have 5 posts up or something like that, so I have to openly chat. If you go to my website again, you can send me an email that I can reply to, that way I can give you my mobile and we can catch up on your return to Perth. Seems like there's a great deal of Kiwi's over here working up north, I have some living opposite me, maybe it's you!!

Regards, David.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
