West Coast Africa to Cape Town - Leave April 5th from Dover

Wassup all,

Will be leaving from Dover on Sunday to start my trip down to spain, morocco and the west coast of Africa to Cape Town. This is the first stage in my RTW trip. Usual last minute nightmares (Vaccinations? what do you mean i need vaccinations doctor....).....

I'll be on an 08' F800GS which is geared up and ready to go (already dropped it twice just to christen it). Rough plan is:

Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Burkina, Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon and so on down the west coast. Think i've sussed the visas but no doubt i have it wrong and have to wing it or drop some fives.

If anyone is around or doing a similar route then give me a shout.

Laters,

C.

Could be around in W.Africa, good to see someone taking in Cote d'Ivoire; as long it holds stable, you won't regret it!

Hi, we are currently in Casablanca heading south toward mauritania with the intention of doing the same west coast trip.

I'm riding a Suzuki DR650 and my mate is on an XR650L, had a few problems with my bike but should hopefully be sorted, if you fancy meeting up we'd be more than happy. It may also be worthwhile sharing any infromation with regards visas, places to avoid/go etc.

Happy travels and safe riding

Mike and Ben

Will be in CI on Wednesday for a few days then Dakar, this is not an overland trip, not even for fun - it's business but if anyone's around Grand Bassam/Abidjan I'm on 48-55-21-54

I'll be a couple of weeks behind...

On the 3rd of May I'm heading down to Nigeria via Morocco, Mauritania, Mali, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Togo etc.

I'll be on a GSA1200, may see you somewhere on the road.

Going South from Libreville Gabon on June 11th

Hi all,
I drove my Africa Twin via Mauretania ... Nigeria, Cameroon down to Gabon last year.
On June 11th I will continue down to the Cape via Congo Congo DRC Angola
and Namibia.
I'd be happy if someone would join mid June in Gabon to check the roads in the Congos.
Drop me a note if you will be there to join.
Mike

Africa riders : free beer

Hi all

I will be riding north from Cape Town to Cairo in September. Any of you coming south via Johannesburg, give me a shout if you need a bed, or assistance in South Africa. I just completed Prudhoe Bay to Ushuaia from May 07 to Feb 09, and will always remember the friendship and kindness of all the local bikers, so its time to repay.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
