Vladivostok to London May/June 2012

Everythings looking good. Too early to apply for visas but theres other stuff to do.
Drop a line if you are heading that way especially if your riding Sport tourer or Super Sport Tourer.

I'm also looking into the same trip and time frame. The only difference is I'm stopping in Poland to visit family.

My first problem is getting my bike from the west coast of the US to Vladivostok. Any suggestions?

Sea freight?

There are fairly frequent sailings between Vlad and Vancouver and/or Seattle.
You will probably have to put the bike in a container - which no doubt you will find others willing to share.

Air freight?

An alternative is to air freight to Seoul then regular ferry services to Zarubino and Vlad. Going that way is not as expensive as flying it from Korea, as most planes are returning empty having been exporting stuff.
You will have to pay quite a bit of Korean Customs to ride it on Korean roads or you have it put on a 'customs bonded' truck to the ferry port.

Search around HUBB - it's all here!

Sell it. With the money you get, it should be more than enough to buy the equvelent in Japan. Then a short ferry trip to Vlad.
That is what I'm doing.

Might be worth checking the prices here before you make that decision.

Make sure you know all the details about registering the bike in your name in Japan. It isn't as simple as walking into a shop and forking over cash.
If it isn't registered in your name in some country, you won't be riding it as a temporary import in Russia.
Search the HUBB for info. I put it up there, someplace, a few years ago.
