Thumbs up Vermont - Texas - Mexico -Costa Rica leaving Saturday 26th

Looking for other riders heading south.
Leaving Vermont Saturday the 26th to SW Indiana and then on down to Texas, then into Eastern Mexico on down to Costa Rica. I live there part time in Monteverde. Trip 3-4 weeks stops in Veracruz, Agua Azul, San Cristobal, Guatemala, Nicaragua etc other spots ???
BMW R90/6 with full packed sidecar - plan to stop in Houston or DAllas a day or so to fit up, and then mosey south...easy driver, slow and not pushy.

Jim,

I lived in Chiapas for 3 years. Lovely state!

So you are coming along the east coast. I'm sure you will take a day or two in Veracruz and the beaches. Then take the route that will take you over to Palenque (Mayan center),

then nearby on the same road: Aguas Azules

an amazing mineral water river that creates its own pools and waterfalls by its deposits.

Then tool on down the mountain road

to San Cristolbal de las Casas.

If you are coming that far south, then you are probably heading for one of the 2 Pacific side entrances to Guatemala, so don't miss the Canyon del Sumidero before Tuxtla-Gutierrez

From there you can cut over (or directly from San Cristobal) to Comitan, the sub-tropical town and the Mayan ruins of Tenam Puente nearby

I'm sure you know these places as you live part of the time in Costa Rica, but I show the pictures to try to coax riders AWAY from the PANAMERICANA ONLY route where they miss SO MUCH !

I am leaving for Panama on about May 18 (mas o menos) from Natchitoches, Louisiana (I-49 between Shreveport and Alexandria). If nothing else, stop by. I plan on taking about 4 weeks to get to Panama. Email me at terraxpeditions at gmail dot com

PS, Thanks Toby for adding to my must see places.
