Mike,

Thanks for the update. Let's hope it's still the same when I'm there next year.

Further to the Sudan Visa saga, in Aswan, Mr.Idris, Mob:0020106845201 appears to be the local Sudan Consul and can get visas quickly and also sort out ferry tickets, a really good contact. Ride safe, Mike.

hey there!

I'm also headed to Sudan. In Cairo at the moment getting my Visa sorted - will submit it all tomorrow, but i've heard it can take a long time... What was your experience?

Also, do you know when the Aswan ferries are running to Wadi Halfa? Is it still Mondays?

take care!

Hi all. Mr. Idris mentioned above is not the consul, he works for the ferry company. You can find him in the ferry office in the mornings before the ferry leaves or call his mobile for help getting on the ferry. He is very very friendly and helpful- like most Sudanese people I met! Aparantly he can help you get you a Sudan visa in Aswan, but it is so fast and easy (if not cheap- $US100) to get it in Cairo, that I suggest that.

Yes, I think you may be right about Idris but on a slightly different subject, Ethiopian visa in Khartoum, went in at 0930 Tues paid $US20 and had my visa that same PM. Ride safe, Mike

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
