UK to Thailand 2013

Hi All

I will be leaving the UK in June 2013 and heading to Thailand from where i will freight my bike either back to the UK or ride onto NZ
I will be riding through Europe and across Turkey to Georgia taking all the good bikers roads in on the way Grossglockner, Transalpina, Transfargen, the Road of Stones, and the road between Of and Ezerum in Turkey, then into Georgia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan [Pamirs], Kyrgyzstan, China, Loas then Thailand.
Obviously China has always been the problem so i am looking for other riders, Driver to share the cost with, my route is not set and can enter China form either Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan or Mongolia i hope to spend approx 28/36 days in China depending upon route and i feel i should be entering China approx end August.
So anyone out there looking to do part or all of the trip please let me know

Hope i am not treading on anyones toes with this thread, i have looked but found nothing!

Hi I am trying to transit China next year, my prefered route is Mongolia to Loas, there is another guy also interested in transiting China ( see early planners 2013 thread). I have looked and am looking for a 4x4 or similar to share the transiting China costs. It maybe is still a bit early but anyone reading this who is thinking of transisting China in a car/4x4 please get in touch. I have a realistic idea of China costs and am serious.

Thanks Jimmy
I think Mongolia to Laos will be the only way to cross China, i see June this year Tibet became a problem then at the end of July crossing Xinjiang province was also stopped so that just left basically Mongolia down.
Having a problem finding the thread, send me a link if you get chance, i also have many prices for the China part and a 4WD is the key to reduce costs.

Hi, if you search for early planners 2013 , you will find the thread.
I have been trying to transit China for three years, I am aware of costs but while I am quite happy to travel to Mongolian border.solo would prefer company for Mongolia and in view of costs also China.

Regards. Jimmy

Hello Z

For the past twelve months I have been looking for travel partners to travel through China. I will be travelling on a motorcycle - not a 4 X 4. My planned route is Darwin, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, China ( exiting through Xinjiang province ) into Kazakhstan and so forth.

The Chinese 'guide' company NAVO have so far also been unable to find travel partners for me. They have quoted a price of 80,000 Yuan for their service if I was to travel alone. NAVO have not at any stage suggested that travel through Xinjiang is a problem and they have expressly referred to this route as part of their quote.

It does not matter to me if I do the trip in reverse - I am prepared to get my bike to UK in order to join with a group. I would very much like to do the Silk Road and missing out on that section of my plan could be a deal breaker.

I may make a post of my own and see if we can get more interested parties involved.

Attention, Bikers who will be on this route.

""across Turkey to Georgia taking all the good bikers roads in on the way Grossglockner, Transalpina, Transfargen, the Road of Stones, and the road between Of and Ezerum in Turkey,""

We highly recommend you to get your perfect route for the Turkey part of your trip from İstanbul Bikers Club according to your hobbies, likes, dislikes and way of travelling.
Because;
1-Benzin (So you just started learning some Turkish) is most expensive here.Almost 2,2 Euros currently and continue increasing.
2-Many roads are under construction.
3-Some mountain passes on east are closed part time between October and April and dangerous for motocycles.Main international roads are always kept open.
4-Some roads are closed for safety or may not be safe for a while during military operations.Current information always available here if you ask before you start riding to East Anatolia.
5-During rush tourism months, prices go up and quality down.Prefer riding through Turkey while schools are open.
6-Or lets make you route here at club garage together while having welcome drinks and adventure talks where you can make some maintaince also..Some tools, tourism maps and brochures available, all friendly and free.
Wish you all the best, safe, healthy and lucky trips..

Hi Jimmy
sorry for not keeping in contact with you put have been away. I'm still planing to do this next year. I see there are a few people are interested in doing it. If push comes to shove would consider driving my 4x4 but want to ride my bike. Is it possible to stick the guide on the back of the bike or drag him behind us. LoL
