Thumbs up Colombia-USA (jan 2014 - may 2014)

Planning on touring the northern part of South America (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia – sort of like a “small” loop) and then head north. Shipping from Cartagena to Panama, and from here head towards the US. I’m not in a rush – my schedule is clear at least until May 2014.

I know that a lot are heading south to Ushuaia, but if anyone were to head north, I AM GAME!

Who am I? I'm a 20 year-old Danish/American fella, who is spending Christmas 2013 with my family in Cali, Colombia. I wouldn’t call myself a “pro biker”, but I do have experience in riding and maneuvering around South America and its big cities (about 1000 miles) – so fear not!
I’m an easygoing guy who is on a lookout for adventures!

Hit me up!

/Don

Hey hey,

I'm actually in Cali, Colombia right now! I don't have a bike atm, and the bike I'm planning on buying is on Colorado plates (KLR 650 2003), so it might take some time to put it in my name. (Depending on wether they want to see the actual bike in Colorado).
But if I by any chance should be able to get going around the time you arrive in Cali, I AM GAME!

Hey Geff,

Would be sweet as hell - I just need to get all set with the bike! I'll drop you a line once I know more!

Cheers!

Safe Travels - 12-23 - 10:12

I'd love to hear how the KLR title transfer goes and TVIP details. Not positive on the rules with Colo DMV, but I'm guessing a family member could walk the original paperwork into DMV, make the transfer to you (paying the fees, ect.)

The seller can use HIS address and have "new" paper work sent there or get it on the spot. (??) Once you get the paperwork, Fed Ex overnight the new title to you in Cali.

Any info you find on this would be useful for many of us who also want to buy a a foreign bike from another traveler. All the best ... safe travels!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
